Day N Night

Outfit 1 (Day)

Outfit 2 (Night)

Heather

Outfit 1 (Day):
- Dress: Kohls (SimplyVera collection)
- Boots & Earrings: Forever21
- Undershirt: Target

Outfit 2 (Night)
- Top & Skirt: H&M
- Tights & Boots: Target
- Belt: Anthropologie

Heather's Outfit:
- Blouse, Jeggings, Undershirt, Heels: NY & Company
- Necklace: Lane Bryant

Yesterday marked my last day of teaching for the semester so I felt like getting a little more glammed up than usual. I love the SimplyVera dress that my mom gave me as Christmas present a few years ago, because of its fun pattern and flattering silhouette. However, I rarely wear it, because, due to its length (and my lack of length) I have to wear heels with it.

Then, last night I went out dancing with some of my lady friends. I coined the look I was going for as "Zooey Deschanel Sexy". If you know who Zooey Deschanel is and how she dresses in films, television and in real life, you know what I mean.

Burnt Orange

Outfit:
- Blouse: Old Navy
- Spaghetti Strap Undershirt and Shorts: H&M
- Tights: Kohls
- Boots: Target

This is one of my favorite outfits to wear, because it's comfortable AND cute. Win win! I am loving the color trend this fall and winter. K correctly identified this color as "Burnt Orange". My boyfriend is so smart. The 70s-inspired blouse feels a bit like something that Florence Welch would wear. If you've been keeping up with my blog you know that Eff Dub is one of my style icons.

Best of Both Worlds

My Outfit:
- Dress: H&M
- Military Jacket: The LOFT
- Scarf: Birthday Present from M (best friend)
- Shoes: Pimkie (Purchased in Grenoble, France)
- Tights (I need to invest in a new pair!): Kohls

One of my favorite styles is to mix elements of typically feminine fashion with elements of typically masculine fashion. In this particular outfit I blended a tight, feminine, floral print dress and pearl earrings with a military jacket and men's oxford shoes. It's fun to get the best of both worlds. You go, Hannah Montana.

Shameless Love Post

Yesterday my dear friend, colleague, and phenom photog-in-the-making, KIDudley, was gracious enough to conduct a photo shoot of K and I. Tomorrow we'll be celebrating our third month-aversary (even though it feels like it's been so much longer!) and we hardly have any photos together. We spent 45 minutes with Isabel and shot many lovely photos around different locations in our cute uptown area. Here's a sneak peek into two cute pictures of us. There will be plenty more to come after finals week!

I'm A Purple Dinosaur

Outfit:
- Sweater: Forever21
- Undershirt: Hanes Men Undershirt (aka Wife Beater)
- Jeggings: Old Navy
- Black Flat Knee-High Boots: Target
- Scarf: Penneys (Dublin, Ireland)
- Nail Polish: Forever21 (Love & Beauty brand in Dusty Blue)

Today I felt like dressing a little more urban than girly (i.e. I wore pants instead of a dress WOAH). First, I paired my super comfortable bright green sweater with my jeggings. Then, as the sweater is quite short I simply wore one of my $2 men's undershirts that you can find at your local Wal-Mart or Target. I typically wear this type of shirt to bed with leggings or sweatpants, but they work nicely as a layering piece in broad daylight as well. Next, I decided to wear black boots over my black jeggings in order to tone down the brightness of the sweater. However, since it is I, Alex Lover of Color, I forwent my initial notion of having the green sweater be the only color in my outfit and threw on a busy purple scarf. I'm gettin' wild over here on this cold Monday! In the end, the outfit makes me bear a striking resemblance to the colors of Barney. Like Barney, I can be your friend, too, if you just make-believe it.

Nous voulions vous dire. Nous aimons...votre...pants

My Outfit:
- Striped Boatneck Tee, Drawstring Pants, and Earrings: Old Navy
- Shoes Outfit 1 & Belt: Forever21
- Shoes Outfit 2 (I decided to wear flats instead): Target

Heather's Outfit:
Jeggings and tank top: NY & Company
- Dress: Avon
- Necklace: Lane Bryant
- Boots: Wal-Mart

I'd like to start by holla-ing at my colleague and subscriber, Heather. She's a fellow beautifully bodacious and fashionable lady who came into the office the other day wearing a very styly outfit composed of black and burgundy. She said that my blog made her the happiest person alive and that it had become her raison-d'ĂȘtre. I'm not even putting words into her mouth, I'm that cool. Okay, I am exaggerating a little bit, but I told her to dress up for work today and that I'd take her picture and put her in today's post. There she is. Check out those boots!

As for me, today I felt like wearing my comfortable, green, silk pants that I scored on a trip to Old Navy at the beginning of October. They were only $8 and are probably the most comfortable pair of pants that I own. While I was teaching this morning, two of my students raised their hands and called me over during a group activity to compliment me on my pants, hence the title of the post (We wanted to tell you. We like...your...pants). Undergrads are cute. My pant selection was even further validated when K told me that they give me a good badunkadunk (Yes, he actually called it a badunkadunk). That's really what this whole field of fashion is about, right? The search for the perfect badunkadunk-facilitating pants. I guess I'm done buying clothes forever.

Just kidding. See you tomorrow, World!
