Pink

Outfit:
- Top, Cardigan, and Boots: Target
- Shorts: H&M
- Necklace: Forever21
- Tights: Penneys (Dublin, Ireland)

It is a beautiful, sunny, and abnormally warm day in the Midwest. Inspired by the sunny weather, I wanted to wear something bright and cheery. I knew I wanted to wear the black and white top with shorts and tights, but hadn't decided on what to wear over my shirt. I have quite a large tattoo on my left shoulder blade and I prefer to cover it up when I'm teaching. I picked out possible cardigans to wear: an emerald green cardigan, a dark teal cardigan, and the pink cardigan you see above. In the end, I chose the pink cardigan so that I could wear it with the coral, multiple-strand beaded necklace.

Out of This World

Hey guys,

I forgot neglected to take a picture of my outfit today, because Kevin was heading back home after a weekend with me. However, here are a couple of pictures of my current nail color, Sinful Colors "Out of This World". It's a very fun light silver color. You can pick up a bottle at Target for a whopping $1.99.

Comfortable Thursday

Dang you wispy hairs!

Outfit:
- Sweater: Free People
- Undershirt: Target
- Jeans: Seven for All Mankind (Thrifted at Wasteland in SF)
- Flats: LOFT

So I teach four days a week. As a rule of thumb a teacher, or anyone in a professional setting, should look presentable and respectable while in the work environment. While I get great pleasure out of putting outfits together, by the end of the week my desire to be comfortable outweighs my desire to wear overly thought-out ensembles. On that note, Thursdays are usually the only days of the week that I wear jeans instead of dresses and skirts simply because they're easy (and typically flatter your tuccus if you're curvy). I received this lovely and key word: COMFORTABLE robin's egg blue Free People sweater for Christmas that, while mighty cozy is still appropriate in a classroom setting.

Easing into spring

Outfit:
- Sweater: Forever21
- Skirt: H&M
- Tights: GAP
- Boots: The New Yorker (Grenoble, France)

Last night I was eying my closet and I spotted the cute floral skirt you see above. I really wanted to wear a pastel floral skirt, but I was hesitant to seeing as it's January and I go to school in the Midwest, not California. However, the black tights and black boots "winter" (verbing a noun. English rocks.) down the pastel making it okay. I added the green sweater and now I love this outfit.

P.S. Notice the good quality of the pictures. I used my camera! Yay!

Visual tribute to the curvy lady

Embrace your curves, ladies! No skinny girl can sizzle this much.

I shop exclusively at Urban.

Outfit:
- Dress: Target
- Jacket & Earrings: Forever21
- Shoes: Buffalo Exchange
- Tights: Penneys (Dublin, Ireland)

K often gives me a hard time about being a hipster (even though he's totally way more of a hipster). However, today I felt like embracing my supposed hipsterhood. Between the faux leather jacket and the denim dress fraying at the hem, not to mention the leopard print, lace up, thrift store boots, I'd say I am pulling off the hipster vibe. Pulling. Them. Off. Do hipsters even watch How I Met Your Mother?

Ski Teal We Drop

Outfit:
- Dress: Target
- Jacket: Anthropologie
- Boots: Urban Outfitters
- Leggings: Wal-Mart

I will start taking pictures with my camera again, I swear! This week it's just been so easy to take pictures myself using my Mac camera. Since le boyfriend isn't near me everyday anymore :( I don't have someone to take my picture before I leave my apartment in the morning. The other day I painted my nails using OPI's "Ski Teal We Drop" (That's not a picture of my own nails), and constructed this outfit around that color.

A sacred night where we'll watch the fireworks

Outfit:
- Dress: Anthropologie
- Jacket: Forever21
- Tights: Penneys (Dublin, Ireland)
- Shoes: The New Yorker (Grenoble, France)
- Socks: Urban Outfitters

I've had this dress for a few years. I bought it when I worked at Anthropologie in the summer of 2009. It was that job that catalyzed my great interest in fashion and style. The eccentric pattern of the dress reminds me of fireworks. Don't they look like fireworks? The title of the post is a lyric from Animal Collective's song "Fireworks". Allow me to say the word "fireworks" once more. Fireworks.

Here's the video for the song:

Earth Tones

Outfit:
- Dress & Earrings: Target
- Undershirt: H&M
- Belt: Anthropologie
- Tights: Penneys (Dublin, Ireland)
- Boots: Buffalo Exchange

I bought these ankle boots in Berkeley in November while I was home for Thanksgiving. I loved them immediately, but for some reason today is the first day I'm actually wearing them. I was originally planning to wear a green dress with the boots, but the dress turned out to be too short for sheer tights. Since I am a highly professional teacher (har har har) I decided save my students the awfulness that could ensue were I to wear said dress. You're welcome, youth of America.

Back to school

Outfit:
- Dress: Thrifted at Wasteland in SF (Originally from Urban Outfitters)
- Jacket: Anthropologie
- Scarf: H&M
- Boots: Target
- Tights: GAP
- Nail Polish: 10 brand in "Twilight Nights"

Today was the first day of my LAST semester of my Masters program! Only five and a half more years until I have my PhD (fingers crossed). After a pretty lazy three days clothing-wise, I didn't know quite what to wear to teach today. I rarely left my sweatpants (or my apartment) this weekend, but hey I cleaned my apartment and read a lot of The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen. I remembered getting a compliment on this outfit from a random student last year and decided to wear it again.

Watermelon

I have been horrible about updating lately, but I promise I will get back on track now that school is starting again. I had a lot of free time today and decided to test out a few nail polishes I haven't used yet. I was feeling particularly patient and thus decided to experiment with multiple colors and even some designs. I used Sinful Colors' "Rise and Shine" on four of my nails and China Glaze's "Purple Panic (Neon)" on both ring fingers as an accent nail. Lastly, on the accent nail I also added black polka dots. I have a handy nail art and pen brush in black that I purchased from Forever21 last year, which is what I used to add the polka dots.

The pictures are a bit blurry, because I was too lazy to get out my camera. I took them with my cell phone, because it is right next to me. The end.
